Lake Monsters 6
Cyclones 1
July 22 at Keyspan Park
One day after the Cyclones won an emotional victory over the first-place Staten Island Yankees, the letdown began.
The Vermont Lake Monsters — who lead their division in the New York-Penn League — chased Cyclone starter Jeff Kaplan (1-1) after just two innings, tagging him for three runs that set the pace for another disappointing loss for the 15-19 last-place Brooklynites.
By the time the Monsters added three in the fifth off reliever Tim Stronach, this game became a joke at the Cyclones’ expense.
The only Cyclone run came in the eighth — on a walk. The team only got six hits on the night, two of them by blazing hot DH Jordan Abruzzo, whose batting average is now .333. John Servidio also had two hits.
