Two principled cops earned top honors this week from the 84th Precinct Community Council.
Officers Fernando Garcia and Tamar Keaton were on routine patrol recently when they were confronted by a man using bus stops in the vicinity of Tillary Street and Flatbush Avenue as a work space for a large area construction project.
The cops confronted the person, according to Leslie Lewis, the president of the precinct council, and he allegedly offered “a big-time bribe” so that they would look the other way.
The righteous cops did nothing of the sort, Lewis said.
They contacted their superiors, who then conducted a sting operation. The suspect allegedly “reiterated the offer,” on tape, according to Captain Alan Abel, the commanding officer of the precinct.
“He wanted to reward them for not doing their duty,” Abel said.
Abel did not provide any further details, as the matter is still in the prosecution stage.
For their efforts, the pair was recognized as Cops of the Month. They received sincere applause and wooden plaques at the 84th Precinct Community Council’s May 20 meeting.
