Crimus interruptus
An Eighth Avenue man came home on Nov. 27 to find a thug cowering behind his bedroom door — and his laptop computer in a bag about to be swiped.
The almost victim told cops that he returned to the apartment, which is between Union Street and Berkeley Place, at around 2 pm to find the front door open and the thief hiding.
Nearby was the already bagged laptop.
When the 33-year-old tenant asked what was going on, the thief replied, “I live on the fourth floor” before fleeing.
Heavy metal
A construction worker cursed out and battered a man — for no apparent reason — as he walked past the Fourth Avenue job site on Nov. 27.
The victim told cops that he was near Seventh Street with his family at around 12:30 pm when the worker yelled out something, attracting his attention.
When he went to investigate, the worker raised the ante by alluding to the victim’s sexual relationship with his mother and tossing a metal panel at him.
When the victim picked up the panel — for fingerprints, he told cops — the worker went even more ballistic. A struggle for the panel ensued, and the victim ended up with bruises to his hand.
Cops are looking for the rogue worker.
Family jewel
A burglar bashed his way into a Fifth Avenue apartment on Nov. 23, stealing hundreds of dollars in jewelry.
The 51-year-old victim told cops that she was not inside the unit, which is between Sackett and Degraw streets, from 8 am until 5 pm, when she returned to find that the $450 in jewelry was gone.
It’s Chinatown
Gunmen burst into a 13th Street business on Nov. 27 and stole more than $4,000 from the terrified workers.
Cops said that three employees were inside the office, which is near the Gowanus Canal, at around 6:30 pm when the first of three thugs entered, immediately pulled out his black handgun and ordered everyone to the floor.
That’s when two more vicious accomplices entered and rifled the workers’ pockets, kicking their victims for good measure.
The perps collected the cash and cellphones and fled.
Con gamed
Cops collared a car thief after catching him with burglars tools and a navigation system that he allegedly just taken from a BMW parked on Third Street on Nov. 28.
Cops say they saw the 49-year-old perp break into the car and take the Garmin digital mapping device at around 8 am near Fifth Avenue.
Other car talk
Only two vehicles were reported stolen last week, a surprisingly low number for the 78th Precinct. Here are the details:
• A thief got a 1990 Plymouth from Fifth Street between Fourth and Fifth avenues sometime between noon on Nov. 28 and just after midnight the next day. Cops valued the “car” at $100.
• Someone swiped a motorcycle from Baltic Street between Nov. 18 and Nov. 29. The owner told cops that he left the Yamaha chopper between Fourth and Fifth avenues.
