Safe cracker
A crafty thief ransacked a safe stuffed with cash at an Ocean Parkway eatery on April 3.
The restaurant’s owner told police his daughter deposited the night shift money at 8 am on April 2 and noticed nothing amiss in the safe. But when the owner opened the vault on April 3 at 7:30 am, he discovered $2,830 was missing, according to a police report.
Other than the owner and his daughter, two other employees know the combination to the safe, officials noted.
Bait and switch
A huckster stole a woman’s iPhone 6 after pretending he would sell her an iPhone 7 on Neptune Avenue on April 6.
The woman told police that she responded to a man’s online add to buy the fancy phone. But when the pair met between Brighton Fourth Street and Brighton Sixth Street at 11 pm, the man grabbed the woman’s iPhone 6 and jumped into a gray mini-van that sped off, according to a police report.
