Coin caper
A sneaky thief managed to steal $700 worth of coins from a ground-floor apartment on Whitney Avenue on Oct. 11 — after breaking in through a kitchen window.
An upstairs neighbor in the building near Brunett Street heard a noise at around 9 pm and investigated, but said he only found a closet door open and three Tupperware containers full of change missing. Police believe the perp left through the same window he used to enter.
Early morning mugging
An bicycle-riding ruffian took a young man’s wallet at knife-point near the Brighton Beach Avenue Q train stop on Oct. 11.
The victim wasn’t hurt in the encounter, which occurred at Corbin Place and Oriental Boulevard around 7 am, but to add insult to injury the mugger threw his phone to the ground, damaging it. He left the scene the same way he came, on two wheels.
Bar bruisers
Two toughs jumped a man from behind on Homecrest Avenue, bruising his lip and getting away with his wallet, after he left a bar early Oct. 8.
The victim told cops he was near Avenue U at 5 am when the two thieves — who police say had also been seen drinking at a nearby bar — attacked, according to a police report.
Grand theft not-o
A brazen burglar was caught on camera breaking into a Coney Island Avenue car dealership on Oct. 5 night, but he wasn’t after a brand-new car.
The thief broke into the dealership near Avenue V through the front door at 8:30 pm, cops said. He got away with $602 he found in a cabinet, according to a police report.
Sucker-punched
A teen was mugged by three strangers while he was on his way to catch the bus after school on Avenue X on Oct. 6.
The three surrounded the teen near Brown Street at 4:30 pm., demanding from him what he had.
When he turned to see who was going through his pockets, another punched him in the face. The three got away with his cellphone.
