Chicken caper
A couple of crooks tried to crack the safe at a Nostrand Avenue fast-food restaurant on May 18, police reported.
The crowbar-wielding looters came in through the back door of the fried-chicken chain near Gravesend Neck Road at 4 am and tried to remove the safe, according to the police report. When that failed, they smashed the empty cash register, authorities say.
While you were sleeping
A looting low-life stole two wallets from a sleeping man at his apartment on E. Eighth Street on May 18, cops said.
The 67-year-old snoozer told police he woke up in his home near Avenue S at 12:30 am to find his living room window was open and the screen removed.
He soon found that two wallets filled with cash and cards were gone and he immediately called the police, officials reported.
Grabbed and stabbed
A vile villain stabbed an 81-year-old man in the chest after trying to rob him on E. 19th Street on May 20, according to police.
The victim told cops he was near Avenue X at 12:05 pm when the wicked rapscallion rode up in a bicycle and put him in a headlock, saying, “Give me your money.”
The tough-as-nails old-timer fought off the perp but was stabbed in the chest with a knife in the struggle, leaving him wounded, the report states.
