Cyclist struck by car in Brighton Beach

A bicyclist is in critical condition after being hit by a car in Brighton Beach on Aug. 24.

The driver of a 2010 Nissan Maxima struck the man at 7:55 pm on Ocean Parkway and Brighton Beach Avenue, according to police, who say stayed on the scene.

A police spokeswoman said the cyclist was transported to Lutheran Medical Center in serious condition with head trauma.

The bicyclist was not wearing a helmet.

The Highway Patrol Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the incident.
