Seven hits from seven Cyclones in the third inning lead to a big win against the hated Yankees
The Cyclones bats took off in the top of the third with singles by Michael Bernal, Tucker Tharp, and Alfredo Reyes, Reyes’ single scored Bernal for the first run of the game. Amed Rosario, who was back in the lineup after an injury kept him out of play for five games, followed with a single to center for his first hit and run batted in since being sidelined. More singles from Jhoan Urena, Tyler Moore, and Pedro Perez, along with a Yankee error gave the Cyclones a 5–0 lead.
Casey Meisner took to mound for the Cyclones and cruised through his first three innings striking out the side in the third, finishing with 11 Ks, and giving up one run on four hits.
Two more Cyclone runs scored in the fifth inning after Jhoan Urena tripled to score Michael Conforto and a fielding error brought Urena home. The last Cyclone run came in the eighth with the help of a another fielding error.
Gaither Bumgardner took the ball from Meisner in the seventh and gave up one run in two innings pitched, and Eddie Villasmil closed out the game without giving up a run.
The Cyclones return home to MCU Park for 90s Night on Wednesday. Game time is 7 pm.
