Cyclones begin second half with a big win

Cyclones 5
Jammers 2

Aug. 17 at MCU Park

The Cyclones began the second half of the season where they left off, dominating the Jammers and remaining tied for the league’s lone wild-card berth.

The Clones got on the board first, with a run in their first at-bat. Daniel Muno led off with his 16th double of the season and later scored on a sacrifice fly.

The team scored three in the next inning. After loading the bases on singles by T.J. Rivera and Xorge Carillo and a walk, Muno knocked in a run with a groundout before Javier Rodriguez knocked in two more with a double.

Jamestown got a run back in the fifth on an error, but the Cyclones got it right back on a Rivera sac fly.

Reliever Jeremy Gould gave up a run in the ninth, yielding two doubles.

Cyclones starter Marcos Camarena pitched well, but couldn’t get out of the fifth, a recurring problem with this playoff-bound (?) team.

The Cyclones are home again at MCU Park [1904 Surf Ave. at W. 17th Street in Coney Island, (718) 449-8497] tonight at 7 pm. For info, visit www.brooklyncyclones.com.
