Strong pitching helped the Cyclones snap a four-game losing streak in a game the Boys for Brooklyn connected on just two hits.

Brooklyn only had pair of singles in the game but were able to score twice in the fourth without the benefit of a hit.

William Fulmer was hit by a pitch leading off the inning before Vinny Siena reached on an error and Brandon Brosher walked to loss the bars with nobody out.

Hengelbert Rojas drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly and Zack Mathieu followed with a sac fly of his own.

Gaby Almonte improved to 4–2 as the right-hander worked in and out of trouble, pitching six scoreless innings.

The Scrappers loaded the bases in the first before Almonte got Daniel Salters to fly out to end the inning.

Almonte allowed the first two Scrappers on in the third but Manuel Hilario threw out Will Castro who was trying to steal third. After a walk, a-strike-’em-out, throw-’em-out double play ended the inning.

Mahoning Valley had a man on third with one out in the sixth before Almonte coaxed a ground out to first and a strikeout to get out of the inning.

Johnny Magliozzi came on in relief and pitched a scoreless seventh. With Magliozzi still on the mound in the eighth, Oswald Caraballo committed an error in left field, putting Ka’ai Tom on base.

Tom moved to second on a wild pitch, to third on a ground out and scored on a sac fly.

Alex Palsha came on in the ninth to close out the Scrappers but got in some trouble.

Salters led off with a single and moved to second on a sac bunt. Jodd Carter came in to pinch-run and moved to third on a wild pitch.

With Carter on third and one out, Palsha got Austin Fisher to ground out to short, keeping Carter at third.

Palsha struck out Silento Sayles to end the game and pick up his seventh save of the season.

After 34 games the Cyclones are 19–15, and tied for first in the McNamara Division with the hated Staten Island Yankees. Gamboa’s team was 15–19 at the same point last season.

The Cyclones are back in action against the Scrappers at 4:05.
