Renegades 2
Cyclones 7
June 25 at MCU Park
The Clones scored their most runs of the season in a 10-hit blitz to stop a two-game losing streak and beat the pesky Renegades for the first time this year.
The Cyclones got on the board with a three-spot in the first, thanks to a single by Ismael Tijerina, a Brandon Brown bunt that was thrown away for an error, and a Javier Rodriguez RBI double (his third of the year). The big blow in the inning was Brian Harrison’s two-run single.
Brown doubled in the third and later scored on Richard Lucas’s single.
Other insurance runs scored in the fifth (on Brown’s solo shot), sixth (on Juan Torres’s solo shot) and seventh (on another solo homer by Brown) innings to give starter Chris Hilliard all he needed.
The starter raised his record to 2–0 with an incredible 0.87 ERA.
Brown was 3 for 3 on the night with four runs scored and two RBIs (himself).
The Cyclones return home vs. the Hudson Valley Renegades at MCU Park [1904 Surf Ave. at W. 17th Street in Coney Island, (718) 449-8497] on June 29, 7 pm. For info, visit www.brooklyncyclones.com.
