Cyclones get their ‘Fuller’ of Tri-City

Cyclones 3
Valley Cats 0

Sunday, July 5, at Tri City

Once again, Cyclone pitching was the story here. Starter Jim Fuller (3–0, 0.00 ERA) has still not given up an earned run this season, blanking the Valley Cats through six innings. Fuller did give up six hits, but he also struck out five before yielding to reliever Mike Lynn, who pitched the final three frames with just a lone single and a hit batter to blemish his line.

The Cyclones got all they needed in the first, thanks to John Servidio taking one for the team and then Sam Honeck’s RBI double.

But in the sixth, the Clones added two more on a two-out double by Doc Doyle.

The 14-2 Cyclones have now won eight in a row. The team is second in the league in hitting, with a .266 overall average. But the pitching staff dominates all rivals, thanks to a 1.54 ERA.
