Cyclones scratched by cats

The Cyclones were shut out by the Valleycats one night after shutting the ValleyCats out.

Corey Oswalt pitched well once again, going six scoreless innings, giving up just three hits, and striking out five.

But the Clones bullpen couldn’t hold the ValleyCats down, and the Brooks offensive never got rolling.

The mini Mets look to take the rubber match of the series on Sunday at MCU Park.

Ups and downs

Wizard of Os: Prior to Saturday night’s game, starter Corey Oswalt has a record of 5–0 at MCU Park. The right-hander has an earned run average of 1.77 at home.

Errors left and right: The Cyclones lead the New York-Penn League with one hundred errors this season — the most the team has committed since a franchise-high of a 10 in the 2006 season. Last season the Mini-Mets only committed 75.

Nido is neato: Before Saturday night’s game, catcher Tomas Nido was on an 11-game hit streak and was batting .400 during that stretch. For the month of August, the young catcher was batting .339. This streak was the sixth double digit streak for the team this season.
