Hudson Valley 6
Cyclones 5
July 11, at Hudson Valley
Mistakes cost the Cyclones in a hard-fought, 12-inning loss to the Renegades.
The game ended on a throwing error by David Thompson. With runners on first and second, Thompson fielded Angel Moreno’s bunt but threw the ball into left field.
Cade Gotta, who led off with a single, scored from second.
Nicco Blank dropped to 0–2. Blank allowed a single and a walk before the game-ending error.
Hudson Valley had the bases loaded in the seventh and ninth but couldn’t take advantage.
Brooklyn missed a chance to take the lead in the top of the 12th inning. With runners on the corners, Michael Bernal struck out and Tucker Tharp was picked off third to end the inning.
Bernal went hitless in six at-bats.
The Cyclones trailed 5–2 heading into the seventh before Zach Mathieu’s homer made it 5–3.
With runners on second and third, Tharp’s grounder to third scored Oswald Caraballo, and Matt Dacey’s throwing error let Pedro Perez come home with the tying run.
Dacey had a productive night at the plate against Matt Blackham. Dacey’s first professional hit was a run-scoring double in the first, and he followed with another run-scoring double in the third.
Blackham gave up five runs in four-and-two-thirds innings. Ruben Reyes came in and settled down after allowing an inherited runner to score.
Reyes and Christian Montgomery each pitched one-and-two-thirds innings of scoreless ball.
Corey Taylor worked around a triple and two intentional walks to pitch a scoreless ninth.
Craig Missigman tossed two shutout innings, striking out the side in the 10th.
Tucker Tharp went four-for-six and Oswald Caraballo raised his average to .129 with a two-for-four night.
