Cyclones 3
Muckdogs 1 (Game 1)

Aug. 10 at Batavia

The Cyclones got all they’d need in the third inning. Carlos Leyva led off with a single, and Daniel Muno doubled. Javier Rodriguez hit what should have been a groundout, but the Batavia shortstop threw home to late to catch Leyva. Muno scored on an error on the next play.

The Cyclones scored another run in the fifth. After Leyva and Muno singled, Richard Lucas knocked in a run with a single.

Starter Eduardo Aldama was solid, giving up just three hits and striking out six in his five shutout innings.

After he left, the Muckdogs got their only run on consecutive doubles off reliever Jack Leathersich in the sixth.

Cyclone reliever Jeremy Gould blew the nightcap. He had pitched two innings, striking out four, before starting the home eighth with a walk. He got the next two outs before yielding a walk-off RBI double.

It erased a nice performance by starter Jeffrey Walters, who gave up one run in five innings.

The Cyclones were trailing 1–0 when they tied it in the third on a Javier Rodriguez RBI single.

The Cyclones managed only three other hits in the game.

The Cyclones return home to MCU Park [1904 Surf Ave. at W. 17th Street in Coney Island, (718) 449-8497] on Aug. 17 at 7 pm. For info, visit www.brooklyncyclones.com.
