The Cyclones are born again!

The Clones decimated the Doubledays Friday in a 10-4 victory brimming with superb pitching and strong hitting — a combination we haven’t seen coming out of the Brooklyn dugout in some time.

Cyclones pitcher Carlos Vasquez kept the Doubledays at bay from the outset, striking out four and allowing just one run for the first four innings.

At the same time, batters Daniel Muno and Richard Lucas became contact hitters: Muno connected each of the three times he was at bat, getting a double and two RBIs, while Lucas plated all four times his number was called. But Lucas’s results were more of a mixed bag — he earned a triple, two singles and a hit by pitch.

The Clones held an 8-1 lead over the Doubledays by the bottom of the fourth — thanks in part to some poor Auburn fielding errors. But the team never looked back, with both Muno and Cole Frenzel rounding out the final score in the sixth.

The Cyclones return home vs. the Lowell Spinners at MCU Park [1904 Surf Ave. at W. 17th Street in Coney Island, (718) 449-8497] on July 16, 6 pm. For info, visit www.brooklyncyclones.com.
