For the second straight night, the Cyclones beat the Jammers, 5–2, again, keeping Jamestown batters at bay.
The Jammers did get on the board first against starter Eduardo Aldama, who gave up a single to lead off the third before retiring the next two batters. But after a stolen base, a wild pitch and a walk, skipper Rich Donnelly called for relief in the form of Steve Winnick, who promptly gave up an RBI single.
The Clones got that run back in the fifth on a single by Cole Frenzel, a wild pitch, a single by Amauris Valdez and another wild pitch.
The big blow came in the seventh, when four Clones crossed the plate.
Brian Harrison walked, and Frenzel knocked him in with a double. Two more walks loaded the bases for Daniel Muno, who first stood there as one run scored on a wild pitch, and then knocked home one more with his 17th double of the year. Richard Lucas added an RBI on a sac fly.
The win kept the Cyclones tied with Williamsport for the league’s lone wild-card berth — but the Cyclones are now only three games back of the first-place Yankees, who have cooled off considerably, losing seven of their last 10 while the Cyclones have won eight of their last 10.
