What do Gertrude Stein, Isaac Mizrahi and Maira Kalman have in common?

The Mark Morris Dance Group is combining the works of all three geniuses for its dual production of “Four Saints in Three Acts” and “A Choral Fantasty,” which will open on BAM’s stage on March 1.

“It’s a gorgeous, surprising, beautiful, tender piece of music,” said Mark Morris, the choreographer who created the hour-long dance piece to Virgil Thompson’s 1928 choral arrangment, with a libretto by Gertrude Stein and sets designed by New York-based author and artist Maira Kalman.

“Four Saints in Three Acts,” will be accompanied by a world premiere of Morris’s “A Choral Fantasy,” set to Beethoven’s “Fantasia in C minor for Piano, Chorus, and Orchestra, Op. 80,” with costumes by fashion icon Isaac Mizrahi.

Mark Morris Dance Group at BAM [30 Lafayette Ave. between Fulton Street and Ashland Place in Fort Greene, 718.636.4100]. March 1–3, 7:30 pm. Tickets, $25–$80. For info, visit www.bam.org.
