Dar Williams returns for her annual post-Xmas gig

Along with the Christmas trees hawked on street corners and vacant lots, decorations on main drags, competing versions of “The Nutcracker,” one thing that’s come to be expected each holiday season is a post-Christmas show at Southpaw from Dar Williams.

This year, the indie singer’s third annual Park Slope gig is set for Dec. 27 — and the country-tinged songstress will focus mostly on tunes from her last release, “Promised Land.”

Brooklyn folk fans are not the only ones who look forward to the show. Williams loves the wintery gigs, too.

“December is an extremely fun time to get out,” said Williams. “People are swimming through eggnog, are a little more convivial,” says Williams. “My [Brooklyn audience] will be happy to get out from under the pressures and the self-aggrandizement of the holidays.

“Plus, concerts are places people go to get away from the darkness or to remember that it’s a very important time of the year,” she said.

“Or they could just be escaping their families.”

Dar Williams at Southpaw [125 Fifth Ave. near St. Johns Place in Park Slope, (718) 230-0236], Dec. 27, 8 pm. Tickets, $25 in advance or $30 at the door.
