A six-year-old boy was ripped from his mother’s caring hand last week in a fatal multi-car accident in East Flatbush.
Clarantae Turner was reportedly holding his 26-year-old’s mother’s hand as the two waited for a light on the Kings Highway median near East 95th Street at 3:17 p.m. Friday when a two-car collision at the corner led to the child’s death.
Witnesses said that a Nissan Pathfinder was making a left turn off Kings Highway onto East 95th Street when it was struck by a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica traveling southbound on Kings Highway.
The force of the impact sent the Pathfinder into the median – right into Clarantae and his mother.
The Chrysler Pacifica was sent off in another direction, where it mounted the curb and smashed into a streetlight on the west side of Kings Highway, officials said.
Both Clarantae and his mother were rushed to Kings County Hospital, where the six-year-old died of his injuries.
His mother was listed in stable condition with head, leg, back and neck injuries, officials said.
The 33-year-old man driving the Pathfinder was also rushed to the hospital with a broken leg. The 25-year-old operator of the Chrysler Pacifica and a four-year-old passenger sitting in the back seat were transported to the hospital as well, but only suffered minor injuries.
As of this writing, no charges had been filed against any of the drivers involved in the fatal collision, police said.
