Sandy the Seagull went to bat for the underprivileged when he participated in a local holiday toy drive at the office of Councilman Lew Fidler, coordinated by the 41st Assembly District Democrats Club and netting a record-breaking number of gifts.
The Brooklyn Cyclones’ mascot joined the 46th District democrat and staffers at his district office, Avenue R and Haring Street, for the Club’s third annual Community First Toy Drive, which raised nearly 6,000 presents for the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation.
“You guys did it again!,” bellowed Staff Sgt. Ivan Lebron, adding, “No other chapter even came close.”
The toys were collected with the support of the Club’s 200 co-sponsoring community organizations and businesses.
