Demoralizing, error-filled loss

Tigers 6

Cyclones 3

Sunday, Aug. 8 at MCU Park

Defense continued to plague the first-place Cyclones, with a phenomenal five errors turning into four unearned runs and a depressing Cyclone loss.

Connecticut scored four in the third inning, in a most ridiculous fashion. After Joe Bonfe’s error, two singles set up a steal of home. The Tigers capped the inning with a homer.

Another run came in during the fifth, again thanks to a gift-wrapped error.

The Cyclones scored two in the sixth, thanks to Jeff Flagg’s leadoff homer, and William Cherry’s RBI single.

Darrell Ceciliani, who is trying to be the first ballplayer to hit .400 in the New York–Penn League since 1971, was 1-for-4, dropping his average to .375.

The next Cyclones home game is today at noon against the Connecticut Tigers at MCU Park [1904 Surf Ave. at W. 19th Street in Coney Island, (718) 449-8497]. For info, visit www.brooklyncyclones.com.
