The Brooklyn Diabetes Task Force will celebrate its Seventh Annual Diabetes Walk for Health, August 15 at the Prospect Park Bartel Lot on 15th Street, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The walk, which offers a 1.5 mile and a three mile walk route, depending on your level fitness, will include information on diabetes and related topics, health screenings, music, and free raffles. Attendance is free of charge.
Brooklyn has one of the highest incidences of diabetes in the five boroughs. Statistics reveal that every one in three central Brooklyn residents has diabetes.
The Brooklyn Diabetes Task Force is committed to raising awareness about diabetes prevention and management through this walk. It is important for the public to learn about the risks for diabetes, how it can be prevented and the management options available to them. Health professionals will be in attendance to answer any questions.
