They’re the bane of cell phone store workers everywhere.
And, if the police have anything to say about it, they’re about to run out of minutes.
Armed with a dramatic video surveillance video, cops have begun a full-fledged manhunt for two suspects wanted for a cell phone robbery spree that recently touched down in Greenpoint.
Officials said that the suspects, described as black males between 17 and 19 years old, have robbed four cell phone stores in northern Brooklyn since June, including Prime Wireless at 97 Nassau Avenue.
Cops from the 94th Precinct said that the two thieves entered the store roughly before 1 p.m. on June 17 and pulled guns on a worker.
The thieves then removed a handful of cell phones and ran off, leaving their victims uninjured.
Besides Prime Wireless, police believe that the same men are responsible for raiding a Sprint Store at 994 Nostrand Avenue, on June 21, Utica Cellular at 304 Utica Avenue on June 19 and Crown Heights Cellular And Game, 189 Utica Avenue, on June 14.
All of the robberies, with the exception of Prime Wireless, took place in Crown Heights, officials said.
In at least one of the incidents, the thieves helped themselves to a worker’s wallet as well as the phones in the display cases.
Police said that in each instance, the thieves’ methods appear to be the same: the two suspects pretend to be customers, and then rush up to the worker behind the counter with guns drawn.
Investigators believe that the thieves are between 140 and 170 pounds and between 5’7” and 5’8” tall.
