10th snatch
A man snatched a woman’s purse on 10th Avenue on Jan. 9.
The victim, 40, was at the corner of 62nd Street at around 8 pm when the thug sneaked up from behind and yanked the purse from her shoulder, breaking the strap.
The man then disappeared into a nearby alleyway with the bag, which contained various debit and credit cards.
Two much crime
Two nearby apartments were ransacked for jewelry in separate incidents three days apart last week, cops said.
In the first incident, someone stole thousands in fancy rocks from a 10th Avenue basement apartment on Jan. 6. The victim told police that she left the apartment, between 70th and 71st streets, at around 7 am. When she returned just before 4 pm, she noticed a rear door to the apartment was ajar, and more than $4,500 worth of jewelry was gone.
Three days later, the 45-year-old owner of a 68th Street home, between Eighth and Ninth avenues, told police that when she came home at around 1 pm, she discovered that someone had grabbed more than $2,500 in diamond jewelry from inside.
Wheel bad
A spate of car thefts hit the neighborhood last week, with at least four vehicles disappearing in separate incidents.
First, someone stole a car off of 83rd Street on Jan. 2.
The victim, 31, told cops he parked the car at the corner of Dyker Place at around 2:30 pm. When he returned two days later to retrieve the vehicle, it was gone.
Then, two separate vehicles were stolen overnight on Jan. 4.
A 57-year-old man told police he parked his car on Tenth Avenue, between 66th and 66th streets at around 5 pm. When he returned 24 hours later, the car was nowhere in sight.
That same day, someone took a parked car from 85th Street, between 12th and 13th avenues.
The 66-year-old victim said she locked the vehicle in her driveway at around 10 pm. When she went to hop into the car the next day at around 8:15 am, it was no longer there.
Finally, someone stole a car parked on Shore Road on Jan. 7.
The 49-year-old owner of the car told cops his friend left the vehicle between 88th and 89th streets at around 10 am. When he went to retrieve the car the next day at around 4 pm, it wasn’t in its parking spot and there was broken glass on the ground.
