When Ditmas Park resident Theresa Anderson was born, the population of North America was 82,000,000, William McKinley was president and construction began on the first subway line linking Manhattan to Brooklyn.
The national population has since blossomed, McKinley is long dead and there are as many subways between the two boroughs as there are letters in the alphabet – but Theresa Anderson still has the spirit to blow out candles on her birthday cake as she turns 108 years young.
The spry super-centenarian, who lives at the Ditmas Park Care Center, was the belle of the ball as she enjoyed a large slice of merriment with her birthday cake during a party for her at the elder facility, 2107 Ditmas Park, where boasting age-defying good looks and a jolly smile, Ms. Anderson held court and commanded the spotlight during her milestone celebration.
