DOE to parents: sound off

The city Department of Education (DOE) is asking parents to email their opinions on school budget cuts and offer suggestions about what areas should or should not lose funding.

“We’re trying to get input from everyone,” Louis Aiani, deputy executive director of the DOE’s Integrated Service Center, told District 20’s Community Education Council (CEC).

Mayor Michael Bloomberg wants to cut $324 million from the DOE’s budget for the next school year. He already cut $180 million this year by taking 1.75 percent away from each New York City public school’s budget.
