Dog Coat & Blanket drive

Give A Paw 2009 invites animal lovers to a special weekend for shelter pups and people who care.

The Second Annual Dog Coat & Blanket Drive will be held from 12-4 p.m., October 3 at Root Hill Café, 262 Fourth Avenue and Carroll Street.

Bring new or gently used, clean dog coats, especially sized M[edium] and L[arge], blankets and towels.

Then, on October 4, there will be an ASPCA Mobile Spay/Neuter Clinic at 8 a.m. on Fourth Avenue between Carroll Street and Garfield Place. Get there early. First come first served. For more, go to www.aspca.org/aspca-nyc/mobileclinic/.

Also, from 12-4 p.m., there will be Amstaff (American Staffordshire Terrier) and Pit Bull mix adoptions, plus a small variety of other dogs at the Gil Hodges Garden, Denton Place and Carroll Street.

Low-cost microchipping will be provided courtesy of the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals, and free ID tags will be provided courtesy of www.idtags.com.

Doggie bags will be given to new “pet parents” who adopt at Give A Paw 2009.
