Police arrested a man outside of Sunset Park’s Brooklyn Army Terminal after he allegedly punched and attempted to shoot a teenager.
A 19-year-old man was the victim of a punch to the face and an attempted shooting during a verbal-turned-physical dispute as he was exiting the pier where so-called “booze cruise” party boats dock, according to cops. Police said they received the 911 call around 9:10 pm about a dispute involving gunfire.
“There were four suspects involved, with one possessing a firearm and he discharged, but missed the victim” a police spokeswoman said. “He was charged with attempted assault.”
The fight unfolded when one of the suspects allegedly walked up to the victim’s driver’s-side window and punched him in the face. The victim told police he was exiting the pier at the time of the altercation. The police reported no injuries.
The Brooklyn Army Terminal is where the city plans to relocate three of the party boats currently operating out of Sheepshead Bay, where locals have long complained about the quality-of-life woes the bring. The boats will move to Sunset Park at the beginning of September, according to the city.
