Dylan to plug into Brooklyn

Bob Dylan will help celebrate Brooklyn this summer when he plays the Prospect Park Bandshell on August 12.

The concert marks the last night of BRIC Arts Media Brooklyn’s Celebrate Brooklyn festival, now in its 30th season.

“It’s been a possibility in the works for a while,” said Jack Walsh, executive producer of Celebrate Brooklyn, of the Dylan show, one of three benefit concerts during the summer series. “We’re extraordinarily ecstatic that it worked out. He’s known to play places off the beaten path. I think that this was something that was appealing to him.”

Brooklyn may have also appealed to the singer, best known for the songs “Like a Rolling Stone” and “Blowin’ in the Wind,” as a young musician living in New York City.

In the 1975 song, “Tangled Up In Blue,” he rambles, “I lived with them on Montague Street, In a basement down the stairs,” a possible nod to the Brooklyn Heights neighborhood.

For Brooklynites looking to catch the singer in this special performance, tickets are sale through Ticketmaster on June 13 and range in price from $55 to $100.
