Effort to address hunger

In an effort to address the growing issue of hunger in the community Assemblywoman Rhoda Jacobs is not only working with local food pantries to get food to families and to help people who are eligible for food stamps, she is also announcing a free summer meal program for children, being offered at various locations in Brooklyn.

Free breakfast and lunch is available on weekdays, now to August 31. Breakfast is served from 8-9:15 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. The program and is available to all children, age 19 and under, at the following locations: PS 181, 1023 New York Avenue; IS 246, 72 Veronica Place; PS 259, 16 Marlborough Road; PS 139, 330 Rugby Road; PS 152, 725 East 23rd Street; PS 217, Newkirk and Coney Island avenues; and PS 269, 1957 Nostrand Avenue.

Edward R. Murrow High School at 1600 Avenue L will be available from July 1 to August 14 serving breakfast from 8-9:15 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.
