A man raped an 82-year-old Brighton Beach woman in her home in the early hours of July 13, and police are asking for the public’s help in finding the culprit.
The suspect entered the victim’s apartment at 1:40 am while she was sweeping the street, police said, hid in her bedroom, and then assaulted her there when she returned.
He demanded money from the victim while holding her at knifepoint, but the victim said she did not have any money to give him, according to a police report.
The suspect stayed inside the apartment until 4 am, when he allegedly raped the victim, officials said, then he fled the location after stealing an umbrella and a bag containing clothing.
The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital.
Police have identified the man they believe responsible and released a photograph they say is of the 18-year-old suspect.
