A man’s Amity Street home was burglarized on April 27, but he made Sherlock Holmesian deductions on how the prowler carried out the heist.
The victimized amateur detective told police he was at his girlfriend’s apartment from 6 to 11 pm. When he returned to his residence, between Clinton and Court streets, his laptop, iPod and watch were gone, though nothing else seemed touched.
Perhaps it was a slightly stronger breeze blowing into the apartment or more noise from the street, but the man realized his front window was more ajar than when he left. He then discovered a single, dirty footprint on his chair next to the window.
Over the wall
Crooks ran an urban obstacle course to loot a Sullivan Street garage between April 29 and 30.
The perps busted open the rear entrance of the shop, between Van Brunt and Columbia streets, and hauled away tens of thousands of dollars of radios, speakers, amplifiers and television screens, according to the business owner, who said the thieving took place between 3:30 pm on April 29 and 6 am the next day.
The burglars hopped the rear wall with the aid of a ladder, slunk through the neighboring vacant lot and escaped to freedom on King Street.
