One person was injured as he and nine others were doused with a Halon extinguisher system at a Flatlands gas station. Officials said that the victims were pumping gas at the station at the corner of Kings Highway and Flatbush Avenue Saturday when the Halon extinguisher system suddenly went off, dousing the victims in chemicals. At least one of the victims suffered chemical exposure to their skin. The others were checked out with respiratory problems. Members of the Flatlands Volunteer Ambulance Corps treated the victims. It was unclear what caused the fire extinguisher system to go off as this paper went to press.
