Let’s put out the welcome mat for two comprehensive eye care practices.
The NYU Langone Eye Center opened in Bay Ridge and in Brooklyn Heights, providing comprehensive eye and vision care. Both centers are staffed by ophthalmologists specially trained to diagnose, monitor, and medically or surgically treat all ocular and visual disorders of the eye, as well as prescribe vision services, including glasses and contact lenses.
Ophthalmologist Dr. Douglas R. Lazzaro, Chief of Ophthalmology at NUY Lutheran Medical Centers, is taking a lead role in helping NYU Langone identify opportunities for continued expansion.
“The expansion of the NYU Eye Center, under Dr. Lazzaro’s stewardship, greatly eases access to comprehensive and innovative eye care services for people in Brooklyn,” says Dr. Joel S. Schuman, professor in the Departments of Ophthalmology, and Neuroscience and Physiology, and chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at NYU Langone.
Dr. Lazzaaro added, “It’s a wonderful opportunity to take on new challenges and help identify and develop services that further NYU Langone’s commitment to Brooklyn.”

Investors Bank is again partnering with non-profits to provide a positive difference in the community. The bank formed an alliance with the United Chinese Association of Brooklyn, Bonei Olam, and St. Athanasius Parish.
Funds were donated to each organization to mark the grand opening of the latest branch on 18th Avenue and 64th Street.
Locals celebrated the ribbon-cutting ceremonies and enjoyed a performance of the Lion Dance, a symbol of good luck, presented by United Chinese Association of Brooklyn.
Customers 18 and over can register to win prizes in weekly drawings, including a Fitbit, Apple Watch, Nespresso machine, and 50-inch Toshiba television. Drawings take place now through Aug. 25.
The bank is also offering special promotional rates on consumer money market accounts as well as certificates of deposit for businesses and individuals.

Congratulations
The NYC Neighborhood Library Awards announced the 10 finalists in the running for top honors and a $20,000 prize. Winnings from the NYC Neighborhood Library Award will help branches extend, expand, and build on their award-winning services.
This year, Crown Heights Library and New Utrecht Library are among the contenders.
The awards are known as the “Oscars of Libraries,” and recognize public libraries for being irreplaceable pillars of their communities, offering a welcoming and safe environment and free programs and services. The awards, an initiative of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation and the Charles H. Revson Foundation, will announce the winners in October.
