The FAD Market is kicking off their 2022 season this weekend at Dumbo’s Empire Stores with their Brooklyn Made event featuring handmade products created by artists within the borough.
The FAD — Fashion, Art and Design— Market is a traveling series of pop-ups that are held in venues across Brooklyn and Manhattan with this year’s season opener on April 9-10 being the market’s first time in Dumbo.
The Brooklyn Made event will be hosted from 11 am to 6 pm in the lobby of Empire Stores, which is notably home to the Time Out Market, and will be selling goods from 30 Brooklyn-based artisans such as the hand-painted clothing from Margo New York, Scully’s Wonderful Stuff’s natural toiletries, and sustainable dog products by Gone to the Dogs.
Other products on display include handmade jewelry, body and skincare products, tableware and artisanal food products, all meticulously crafted by local creatives and artisans.
There are five following popups scheduled for the market’s spring/summer season, with an Earth Day Pop-Up scheduled at the High Line on April 23-24, a Mother’s Day Pop-up on May 7-8 at the Dumbo location and a NYCxDesign event celebrating emerging designers in Boerum Hill on May 14-15.
The market will also be held regularly on Governor’s Island on the third weekend of the month from May to October from 11 am to 5 pm, and a Summer Pop-Up will have two showings in Boerum Hill on June 11-12 and July 9-10.
Applications are still open for artisans to sell handmade goods at the Governor’s Island pop-ups.
