Rude awakening
Cops arrested a 24-year–old who broke into an Avenue N man’s bedroom while he slept on Oct. 30.
The victim told police that he was out cold in his home near E. 34th Street when he awoke around 3:50 am to find the pilferer hovering over him and going through his personal items. The man confronted the punk — who told him he was “looking for change,” according to a police report. The resident called 911 and held the alleged burglar down until cops arrived, according to police.
Room raiders
Someone stole $38,000 worth of jewelry from an E. 57 Street man’s home on Oct. 29.
The guy told cops that he left his home near Avenue U around 3:15 pm and returned an hour later to discover his jewelry missing from his bedroom. Police did not find any trace of a break-in, officials said.
Hot wheels
A sneak took the wheels right off of a car at the corner of Avenue L and E. 58th Street overnight Oct. 27–28.
The man told cops that he parked his car there around 8 pm that Thursday, but the vehicle was stripped when he returned to it at 6:30 am the following day, according to police.
Five-finger discount
Someone swiped a woman’s bag while she perused an Avenue U shopping center on Oct. 30.
The woman left her bag unattended at an accessory store near Flatbush Avenue around 7 pm and a sneak took the purse, which contained her cellphone and gift cards totaling a worth $6,000, according to police.
Grand scam
Someone fraudulently used a woman’s debit card at a Flatbush Avenue bank between July 21 and Aug. 8.
The victim’s bank sent her a new debit card over the summer, but she never received it, police said. She went to the bank and asked about it, and that’s when tellers told her someone had recently withdrawn $11,000 from a cash machine near King’s Highway, according to a police report.
Plain sight
A brigand broke into a car at a Ralph Avenue parking lot on Oct. 26.
The victim told police he went into the appliance store near E. 66th Street at 8:46 pm, but his back windshield was smashed and his laptop was missing when he returned an hour later, according to police.
