Brooklyn Cinderellas found the prom dress of their dreams – or close to it – during a gown giveaway in Flatbush.
Held at the Lime Lounge, 673 Flatbush Avenue, the big−hearted effort was the brainchild of good−fairy event planners Tracey Rousseau and Tamara Speid, who solicited community donations of gently−used and brand new frocks for graduating high−school senior girls, who may not have, otherwise, been able to afford one for their milestone occasion.
Close to 100 girls were outfitted with elegant, bejeweled dresses, donated by family, friends and even Allisa’s Bridal shop, 888 East 59th Street.
“It was wonderful to see the girls leaving happy, with smiles on their faces,” said Rousseau, a pre−school teacher, adding that she and Speid, who works in sales, are already planning next year’s Cinderella Diva drive.
The prom−bound girls also received other special freebies; among them, hair and make−up, manicures and handsome wooden diploma cases.
The evening, sponsored by Lime Lounge and Ram’s Roti Shop, 1919 Church Avenue, garnered such “great reviews,” said Rousseau, that Midwood High School has already invited the pair to hold a gown giveaway there.
