Feathered, fluffy and four-legged pals are blessed

The courtyard of Mary Queen of Heaven was transformed into an outdoor altar as the annual blessing of the animals got underway.

The benediction – in honor of St. Francis of Assisi – drew pet owners to the house of worship, East 56th Street and Avenue M, where Rev. Ilyas Gill presided over the ceremony.

The bestial congregation included an assortment of dogs, cats, bids and other lovable critters.

St. Francis is the patron saint of animals.
