Fed Ex follies
An area resident was injured following a crazed accident on Willow Street, where a Fed Ex truck slammed into a residential building.
Officials said that the driver lost control of the wheel at 3:45 p.m. on February 1 and clipped a pedestrian as he veered onto the sidewalk, right into a building.
The pedestrian was taken to Bellevue Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to published reports.
Busted for drunk driving
A 39-year-old motorist was arrested on drunk driving charges after cops allegedly caught him weaving through downtown Brooklyn.
Police alleged that David Santiago was seen changing lanes without signaling past the corner of Hicks and Fulton streets at 3:40 a.m. on February 1.
Cops pulled him over, only to be greeted with a pair of red watery eyes and a heavy smell of alcohol, officials alleged.
He scored a .84 percent on a Breathalyzer test — well over the legal limit.
Bridge raid
Two goons were taken into custody after robbing a straphanger traveling across the Manhattan Bridge.
The victim told police that the train had just left the Canal Street station at 4 a.m. on January 25 when the two unidentified men approached the victim and asked him for the time.
They then pulled a knife and a gun, threatening the victim to hand over his property as the train went over the bridge to the DeKalb Avenue station.
The two men reportedly got off at the station and ditched their weapons, but were soon in custody, according to published reports.
Contained
Cops have arrested one of two men allegedly responsible for stealing mail…containers.
Officials alleged that 49-year-old John Sturiale was one of two men who took five metal postal containers and three plastic postal containers from a post office on 58th Street Sunset Park back on December 8.
Cops in Brooklyn Heights somehow got involved, arrested John Sturiale on February 1, charging him with grand larceny in the fourth degree and petit larceny.
Prosecutors said that the containers cost over $2500.
Cops were still looking for his crafty container swiping accomplice as this paper went to press.
Left in the cold
Two gun-toting thieves held up employees at a local Popeye’s Chicken — forcing one of their victims into a walk-in freezer during the daring early morning heist.
Workers said that they had just opened the Livingston Street eatery between Bond and Hanover streets at 9:15 a.m. on January 23 when the thieves stormed in.
They put one of the men in the freezer and then forced the other employee to open the store safe.
But they soon grew impatient, pistol-whipped the worker and ran off empty handed, police said.
Clark St. attack
Police are looking for the man responsible for a robbery and attempted rape on a 13-year-old girl.
The teen told police that she was on a south bound 3 train rumbling toward the Clark St. station at 10:20 a.m. January 17 when a 5”10” black male in his mid-20s approached and demanded her property.
When the girl tried to fight off her attacker, the thief ripped her clothes and attempted to sexually assault her, officials said.
He ultimately disembarked the train at Clark Street with the girl’s belongings.
Cops are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward.
