Waiting, waiting, waiting.
The way I see it, the longer this Brighton Beach downsizing fiasco continues, the richer the persons, who are supposed to be taking care of this, are getting.
What’s the hurry, the high-rises keep rising along with their fat wallets. What needs to be done, should have been done yesterday, but delays are just making those that delay richer, and the disgusting buildings just keep going up.
Remember back when Brighton Baths was demolished and the Oceana was built in its place? Well, it took years, and I repeat years, to get approval. When approval was finally obtained, it was with strict guidelines of height, its compatibility to the neighborhood and a study of the impact to our sewer system, train system and overall population.
So how dare these revolting high buildings, all of a sudden, pop up? Those delaying the process are, again I say, getting very rich. Again I say, every one of these illegal (check, approvals) towers should be ripped down now.
The same guidelines that were imposed on the development (Oceana) at Brighton Baths should be what these owners/developers should have to deal with.
This is a neighborhood situation that should have been addressed by the neighborhood (just as the Oceana was at Brighton Baths was). They should be made to rip them down. An investigation should be immediate.
All approvals/building should have been halted and investigated (are there even approvals?). The minute these obscene buildings started their construction they should have been made to stop. How dare this go ignored.
We had strict standards in place in Brighton Beach that existed for years and all of a sudden they have disappeared. High rises, and those who turn their backs on the community, have got to be making big bucks while we sit around waiting for approval on downsizing.
Excuse me, but limits were in place years ago. What happened?
There should have been approval needed to upsize, because that is what has happened with everyone turning his, or her, backs (money talks).
This is all a bunch of bull. The approval people, and whoever is involved in these new high rises should be jailed.
I call for all Brighton Beach Residents to stand up and demand this insanity stop now and those involved be made accountable.
