The Fire Department is investigating a two-alarm fire that blazed for nearly an hour in Marine Park on Jan. 31.

Authorities say 106 firefighters were needed to extinguish the ferocious fire that erupted on E. 36th Street near Quentin Road at 2:31 pm Saturday.

Minutes after arriving to the scene, firefighters discovered that the fire hydrants in the vicinity were frozen — though an department spokeswoman said the firefighters immediately called for more units to provide water so the hydrant difficulty was only a brief complication.

The spokeswoman said no civilians were injured but two firefighters were transported from the scene with minor injuries.

The fire was under control at 3:19 pm, according to the department, and the cause is still under investigation.
