A massive fire punched through the roof of a Paerdegat 12th Street home on Aug. 24, sending heavy smoke and flames into the afternoon sky.

More than 100 firefighters rushed to the home, located near E. 80th Street, at 2:30 pm — just minutes after the fire consumed a vacant top floor and the building’s cockloft.

The fire was put out within 30 minutes. At one point, two ladder trucks were positioned near the burning home, trying to douse down the fire as it spread to an attached building, an FDNY spokesman said.

No injuries were reported. As of Sept. 5, the cause of the blaze was still under investigation.

This was the second major fire to take place in Canarsie within the last two weeks.

On Aug. 29, a fire tore through the third floor of a three story home on E. 92nd Street near Avenue J. Again, no injuries were reported.
