Families flocked to the Audubon Center at Prospect Park on April 19 for a day of fishing, bird-watching, music, and trash clean-up in an early celebration of Earth Day. The fish may not have been biting plentifully for one man’s brood, but that did not stop the fun, he said.

“They didn’t catch anything, but they had a blast,” said Simon Tovitou, of Crown Heights, who took his sons Yakov and Yosef fishing. “They loved every second of it.”

In addition to a primer in the epic struggle between man and fish, Sunday’s festivities included a performance by the musical group Bash the Trash, whose members play instruments made from recycled materials, and a display of fierce birds of prey, including owls and hawks.
