Grab back

One of the leaders of Pussy Riot, the Russian punk band arrested for protesting Putin, has created a musical about her experience of hiding from police, the band’s arrest, and their time in a penal colony. Maria Alyokhina will perform in the hour-long protest piece “Revolution” tonight, followed by a discussion with the audience.

10 pm at National Sawdust (80 N. Sixth St. at Wythe Avenue in Williamsburg, www.nationalsawdust.org). $45.

Still dancing

Get booze and culture tonight with a dance performance inside a distillery! The art series Crawl hosts two queer choreographed performances tonight at Industry City Distilling: first, a parody of restrictive gender norms in the bromance-inspired “Package,” and then Brooklyn choreographer Brendan Drake lets his freak flag fly in “The Big Finish.”

8 pm at Industry City Distilling (33 35th St., sixth floor, between Second and Third avenues in Sunset Park, www.industrycitydistillery.com). $20.

Brooklyn go bragh!

Park Slope’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade will step off at 1 pm, with bagpipers and Irish step dancers traveling down 15th Street to Seventh Avenue, down to Garfield Place, and then back along Prospect Park West. This year’s Grand Marshal is James Houlihan (pictured), the owner of Windsor Terrace institution Farrell’s Bar, so follow up your parade-watching with a “Farrellizer” — 32-ounce beer in a foam cup, at the corner of Prospect Park West and 16th Street.

Born to serve: Jim Houlihan, the owner of Farrell’s Bar and Grill, will be the Grand Marshal of the Park Slope St. Patrick’s Day Parade, stepping off at 1 pm on March 19.

Othello in focus

Get an up-close look at LoftOpera’s performance of the Shakespearean tragedy “Otello” tonight, sung inside an intimate working photography studio in Bushwick. This is the first fully-staged New York City production of Rossini’s opera in more than 40 forty years.

8 pm at Lightspace Studio (1115 Flushing Ave. between Porter and Varick avenues in Bushwick), www.loftopera.com. $30.

Funny femmes

You can visit the Brooklyn Museum for free tonight, but if you shell out the usual suggested donation you can also catch the “Brooklyn Comedy Marathon: Fierce, Funny, and Feminist,” featuring a lineup of fabulous female-identified stand-up performers, including Kerry Coddett (pictured), Myka Fox, Raquel D’Apice, Sue Funke, Lois Thompson, Jes Tom, and many more.

7–11:30 pm at Brooklyn Museum [200 Eastern Pkwy. at Washington Avenue in Crown Heights, (718) 638–5000, brooklynmuseum.org]. $16.

Get up, stand-up: Brooklyn native Kerry Coddett will be among the many female comedians performing at the Brooklyn Museum on March 23.
