Krampus style

The War on Christmas gets real at occult bookstore Catland, which celebrates Santa’s evil sidekick with “Krampusfest.” The anti-Xmas event will feature a magic ritual, “hexed cider,” music from the band a place both wonderful and strange, and a photo booth where you can sit on the knee of the horned demon who stuffs naughty kids into his sack. Good luck!

9 pm at Catland [987 Flushing Ave. between Bogart Street and Evergreen Avenue in Bushwick, (718) 418–9393], www.catlandbooks.com).

Tuffet tales

Way Station owner and author Andy Heidel and illustrator Eric Hamilton read from and sign their children’s book “True Crimes from Rhymes Square,” about a detective investigating the murder of Humpty Dumpty. And stick around for a live band performing “Emmet Otter’s Jugtime Christmas” at 8 pm!

5–7 pm at the Way Station [683 Washington Ave. between St. Marks Avenue and Prospect Place in Prospect Heights, (718) 627–4949], www.waystationbk.com. Free (books $20).

He’s got Sol

For “Winterize,” a haunting musical ode to the winter solstice, the audience contributes to the concert by carrying transistor radios through the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, while classic baritone Dylan Herbert performs a song cycle by Schubert. The show is part of the annual Make Music New York festival.

11:30 am at Brooklyn Botanic Garden [990 Washington Ave. between President and Carroll streets in Prospect Heights, (718) 623–7200, www.bbg.org]. Free.

Oh my Gottfried

Just imagine the dulcet tones of Gilbert Gottfried serenading you with a sweet ballad! That dream may come true tonight, when comedian Eliot Glazer welcome the parrot-voicing star to his holiday edition of “Haunting Renditions,” a show that turns cheesy pop songs into highbrow ballads.

8:30 pm at the Bell House [149 Seventh St. at Third Avenue in Gowanus, (718) 643–6510, www.thebellhouseny.com]. $15.

Here comes the sun: The “Winterize” show at Brooklyn Botanic Garden will welcome back the sun on the winter solstice, Dec. 21.
