Flannel fantasy
Union Hall will smell like teen spirit tonight for the ’90s Alternative Sing-Along — a karaoke night where everyone sings and dances to every song. Come in your best flannel — or maybe dressed like that weird bee girl from that Blind Melon video — and you could win ’90s-themed prizes. Even if the decade is a blur of smoke and Zima, you can still sing the chorus to “Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm” by the Crash Test Dummies.

I BAM what I BAM
Boop-oop-a-doop! Guitar legend Gary Lucas (best known for his work with Captain Beefheart and Jeff Buckley) teams up with Broadway star Sarah Stiles to pay tribute to the music from “Betty Boop” and “Popeye” cartoons in a free show at the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s BAM Cafe.

Action heroes
Everything is more fun when you do it wearing spandex and a cape — even running, probably the least fun activity of all time (after golf). The Super Ridge 5K Run invites you to dress up like your favorite superhero or super villain and run or walk about three miles through Shore Park. There will be prizes for best costumes, and all proceeds go to the Making Headway Foundation, which helps kids with brain and spinal cord tumors.

Park life
Prospect Park has not always been the lush green oasis of bird-watching and roller-skating that we now know and love. Urban planner Patrick Lamson-Hall will give a talk titled “Grime and Glory: A History of Prospect Park,” documenting the park’s early golden years, to its crime- and drug-riddled decline in the ’70s, through to its family-friendly rebirth today.

Britain’s Kneehigh Theatre is reprising its acclaimed production “Tristan & Yseult” for a US tour, which will call St. Ann’s Warehouse home for almost a full month. Based on an ancient tale from Cornwall about a king who falls in love with his enemy’s sister, the play incorporates a live band, comedy, aerial acrobatics, and audience interaction for what is reputed to be an incredibly fun night out.
