One of the more traditional plays in the Brick’s “Shakespeare in the Theater” festival is its production of “Othello,” which keeps the original text, but uses race- and gender-swapped casting, so Othello is played by a white woman, Desdemona by a black man, and puts black women in most of the major roles.
