Flatbush frolic is a feast for the senses

An end-of-summer adventure – and then some –was in store for revelers as they marched to the jaunty beat of Brooklyn’s premier party, the Flatbush Frolic.

Sponsored by the Flatbush Development Corporation (FDC), festivities for the annual street spectacle drew thousands of fun-lovers to Victorian Flatbush on Cortelyou Road – between Coney Island and Ocean avenues – where they sampled the best of Brooklyn and made merry at scores of vantage points and exhibitor booths.

Marching bands community groups and costumed performers helped transform the avenue into a dynamic boulevard of wondrous sights and sounds.

Showstoppers lining the route included an assortment of live entertainment performed by local bands. Vying for attention along the way were dozens of vendor booths, offering tempting foods, wares and other goodies.

The Flatbush Frolic was started 31 years ago by a group of residents, who wanted to celebrate their neighborhood.
