What’s a tour of Brooklyn without a trip to Coney Island? A bunch of sailors wrapped up Fleet Week festivities with a visit to Transit District 34 where cops and grassroots leaders extended a warm borough welcome to the USS WASP servicemen and feted them with a day trip to the coast and its many splendors. On the itinerary? A jaunt by Nathan’s for some world-famous hot dogs, followed by thrills on the historic Cyclone roller coaster. Transit District 34 polices the rails in southern Brooklyn. More than 3,000 Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen from US Navy and US Coast Guard ships were in town for Fleet Week, which gives the public a chance to meet and greet their service members at military demonstrations and displays, plus on visits aboard many of the participating ships.
